Social window shopping: Fashiolista

Shopping online is no more like going on a website, finding what you want and buying  it, and Social Shopping has become a very fashionable subject. Mainly it’s all about sharing the items that you like and having them on a single web e page, just one click away from the buying page. For users who like shopping the main utility is having an overall knowledge of what is fashionable right now and having the possibility to share their taste in fashion and to find other people with similar views. On the other side, this kind of instruments represent a huge opportunity for companies for their products to be known among a bigger audience. It gives them the chance to see if their product are going well and to have a direct access to what consumers think about. Furthermore, they give them the opportunity to communicate in different environments and away from the classical web site.

After the biz buzz about Polyvore, with 3.7 milion of users per months, the same concept has been used by Fashiolista, but while Polyvore focuses on using product to produce something creative, even if shopping is just around the corner, Fashiolista tries to reproduce online the experience of the classical window shopping: you go online, you find a product, and instead of adding to your wish list, which is only valid on that particular web site, you add it to Fashiolista, where you have a list of all the products you like and you share with your friends and community members. The big plus is that it’s simple and it doesn’t require a big effort, so it can easily become a part of the daily navigation. There is only one problem: what to do when you’re broke and you have that list of things that you like but you can’t buy? Let’s hope they can soon find a solution to that…
